Arab League calls on international community to continue political, financial support for UNRWA

Nov 01, 2024

Cairo [Egypt], November 1: The Arab League Council, at the level of permanent representatives, has called on the international community to continue providing the necessary political and financial support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to enable it to continue fulfilling its role.
This call came in a resolution issued by the AL Council during an extraordinary session held at the level of permanent representatives.
The AL Council strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's passage of illegal laws that ban UNRWA's activities in the occupied Palestinian territories and deny its staff the diplomatic privileges and immunities granted to United Nations organisations operating in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
The Council denounced the laws as a blatant violation of international law.
