Brazil's Supreme Court orders suspension of video-sharing platform countrywide

Feb 22, 2025

Brasília [Brazil], February 22: A Brazilian Supreme Court justice on Friday ordered "immediate and full suspension" of the video-sharing platform Rumble in the country due to non-compliance with court orders.
Brazil's Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes said Rumble has "repeatedly, consciously and willingly not complied, and is trying not to submit to Brazil's legal order and judiciary."
Moraes on Thursday requested Rumble to name a legal representative in Brazil, but no appointment has been made as of Friday.
Moraes said Rumble ignored his decision to block the account of far-right blogger Allan dos Santos, a supporter of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
Dos Santos, currently residing in the United States, has been under a preventive arrest order in Brazil since 2021. He faces charges including criminal conspiracy, defamation, incitement to crime, hate speech and money laundering.
Moraes is also overseeing criminal cases against Bolsonaro, including investigations into an alleged coup attempt in 2022 and the misappropriation of national heritage jewelry.
Rumble, along with U.S. President Donald Trump's Trump Media & Technology Group, sued Moraes in Florida earlier this week, accusing him of illegally censoring legitimate political discourse in the United States.
