Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau separated from his wife after 18 years of marriage

Ottawa [Canada], August 3: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on August 2 that he and his wife, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, are living separately.
In an Instagram post, Prime Minister Trudeau
"Sophie and I would like to announce that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have decided to separate. As always, we will remain a family bonded with love and respect. profound respect for each other, and for everything we have built and will continue to build," Trudeau wrote
"For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our privacy as well as our children's," he said
Sophie on the same day posted almost identical content on her own Instagram account.
The Canadian Prime Minister's office also released a statement about the separation, and said Trudeau
"They have worked to ensure that they fully implemented all legal and due process procedures related to the decision to separate and will continue to do so in the future," the statement said.
"They are still a close family; Sophie and the Prime Minister are focusing on raising their children in a safe, loving and cooperative environment. The family will be going on holiday together, starting next week. ", announced Mr. trudeau's office.
According to Reuters, Mr. Trudeau, 51, and Sophie, 48, were married at the end of May 2005. They have three children.
After Mr. Trudeau became prime minister in late 2015, he and Sophie frequently appeared together in social activities and on foreign trips. But in recent years, Sophie has limited such appearances with her husband.
The two traveled to London (UK) in May to attend the coronation of King Charles and appeared together when US President Joe Biden visited Canada in late March.
Mr. Trudeau held a press conference on July 31 and took the subway in Toronto (Canada) that night but has not scheduled a public appearance for the past two days.
