Estonia expels Russian diplomat

Mar 20, 2024

Tallin [Estonia], March 20: Estonia has expelled an employee of the Russian embassy in Tallinn from the EU and NATO country, the Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The expulsion was justified because of actions which the ministry deemed were directed against the independence and sovereignty of Estonia.
"The coordinated hybrid attacks by the Russian secret services on the security of the Republic of Estonia must be stopped," a statement added.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna specified that the Russian embassy had allegedly interfered in Estonia's internal affairs in an unacceptable manner with regards to a court case.
The embassy had obtained documents from criminal proceedings and contributed to their publication on Russian social media, Tsahkna alleged. (DPA)
