PSG's Verratti to miss Bayern clash after contracting COVID-19 for second time

Apr 03, 2021

Paris (France) Apr 3: Paris Saint-Germain has to head into a decisive week without midfielder Marco Verratti as the Italian star had tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time, the club announced on Friday.
"After the latest PCR Sars-Cov2 test, Marco Verratti is confirmed positive. He will isolate and be subject to appropriate health protocol," PSG said in a statement.
The 28-year-old will miss PSG's Champions League quarterfinals first-leg encounter against Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena on April 7, the rematch of last season's Champions League final, and he will also be unavailable for PSG's top-of-the-table Ligue 1 clash with Lille on April 3.
This is the second time this year that Verratti has been infected with the virus. He sat out for two Ligue 1 matches between the end of January and the start of February due to test positive for the coronavirus.
PSG is level on points with Lille in the Ligue 1 table, with the defending champion sits ahead on goal difference.
