Robot manufacturer KUKA reports record order intake in 2022
Apr 29, 2023
Frankfurt [Germany], April 29: German robot manufacturer KUKA has reported a record order intake of 4.5 billion euros (4.95 billion U.S. dollars) in 2022.
This marks a 25.1 percent increase from the previous year, and the highest level since the company was founded 125 years ago, it said on Friday.
In addition, KUKA increased sales by almost 20 percent to 3.9 billion euros (4.29 billion U.S. dollars) in 2022, and improved its EBIT by 91.6 percent despite a sharp rise in energy and logistics costs and higher procurement prices.
The group said that the positive outcome came from all KUKA divisions, and was attributed to the high demand for KUKA products and solutions in China, as well as investment in its systems by American customers.
"China in particular is an important growth market. We generate around a quarter of our sales there," said Peter Mohnen, chief executive officer (CEO) of KUKA.
Mohnen noted that high prices, a strained supply chain, and intense competition will remain the primary challenges in 2023, but KUKA has had a promising start in the first quarter of the year. (1 euro = 1.1 U.S. dollar)
