Strike to halt 198 flight movements at Germany's Dusseldorf Airport

Feb 27, 2023

Dusseldorf [Germany], February 27: A strike in support of a pay demand called for Monday at Dusseldorf Airport will result in 198 takeoffs and landings out of a total of 330 for the day being cancelled, an airport spokesman said on Sunday.
Flights are to be re-routed to other airports, the spokesman added.
The Verdi and Komba trade unions have called the strike as talks proceed on pay increases for public sector employees at both municipal and federal level.
"Workers are applying pressure to the relevant employers through the strikes, because no acceptable offer has to date been made in the talks in the public sector, Verdi regional official Andrea Becker said. The Cologne/Bonn Airport is also expected to be affected. (dpa)
