Rome [Italy], May 5: Urso's ministry said the price of spaghetti and pasta products in March rose 17.5% year-on-year despite falling wheat prices. In the same month, Italy's balanced consumer price index in terms of the European Union (HICP) increased by 8.1%, according to Reuters on May 5.
This means the price of spaghetti and pasta products more than double the HICP index.
The meeting, which will be held on May 11, will be chaired by a market watchdog appointed by the Italian government and marks the first meeting of the newly created commission to monitor unusual price movements. chief.

The inflation rate in Italy increased to 8.8% in April compared with the same period last year, due to rising fuel prices, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (ISTAT). The "core" inflation rate, which excludes fresh food and energy prices, remained steady at 6.8% year-on-year.
Statistics from the agricultural company Coldiretti show that Italy leads the world in the production of spaghetti and pasta products, with more than 3.9 million tons produced in 2021.
