Abu Dhabi [UAE], June 16: The UAE signed an agreement on June 12 with the World Organisation for Animal Health to establish an office of the organisation in the UAE.
The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Abu Dhabi by Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant minister for development and international organisations affairs, and Dr. Monique Eloit, Director General of the World Organisation for Animal Health, in the presence of representatives from MoFA, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety and the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Under the agreement, the organization's representative office will be established in Abu Dhabi and the office will be given a separate legal status to carry out its functions in the UAE.
The important agreement aligns with the UAE's efforts to ensure food safety, protect animals from epidemics and facilitate importation into the country. The office will work with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and other local authorities in the country, including the Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety, to combat epidemic diseases, prevent their spread and improve veterinary services and food safety.
