Oct 10, 2024

Kyiv [Ukraine], October 10: The General Staff of the Ukrainian army announced that it had attacked a base storing Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Russia's Kranodar Krai region on October 9.
The Ukrainian General Staff said the attack was carried out by the Ukrainian Navy and units of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), according to The Kyiv Independent news site .
The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that "a precise strike on the target was recorded", saying that "the destruction of the Shahed drone storage base will significantly reduce the capabilities of Russian forces".
Russia has not commented on the information provided by Ukraine.
About 400 attack UAVs are believed to be stored at the base, according to The Kyiv Independent .
Also according to The Kyiv Independent , Iran has provided Russia with thousands of Shahed suicide drones since Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 1,300 such UAVs in September, launching them every day throughout the month.
Previously, on November 5, 2022, Iran admitted for the first time that it had supplied UAVs to Moscow but insisted that the transfer had been made before the conflict broke out in Ukraine.
Also on October 9, the Ukrainian military announced that it had attacked a depot of artillery shells, missiles and guided bombs in Russia's Bryansk province, according to The Kyiv Independent . Kyiv said that this facility stored weapons supplied by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Russia and North Korea have long denied that Pyongyang supplies weapons to Moscow.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on October 9 that it had intercepted 47 Ukrainian UAVs overnight. In addition to the 24 in Bryansk, there were 13 in the Azov Sea and adjacent areas, near Ukraine.
