Later she became interested in oriental philosophy. Now she proudly calls herself a musician. Al oud, the predecessor of a European lute, is an ancient plucked string instrument common in the near and middle east. Olga chose the Turkish oud, which has six paired strings and one additional bass string to cover a wider sound range. In classical oriental music, there are 12 maqams, these are the harmonic orders that make up a piece of music.
